• …another new monitor

well , the last monitor didn’t last long. it had a dead pixel but i made sure i was covered for that and decided to exchange it.

This beast is lg 34″ Ultrawide with an IPS screen for much better clarity and full colour spectrum.

I only just managed to make it fit into the alcove but don’t let the picture fool you, this is huge !

  • Diabetes Update

I had my six monthly diabeties check a few days ago.  One point up from last time … 38.  blood pressure fine , eyes fine , feet fine.   The bad news is my cholesterol is at 5.7 so need to go on statins.

Never mind, it gives me something else to panic about :/

  • New Monitor

New Monitor.  It had to be done as i’m not getting any younger and my old tired eyes needed something a little bigger.    i say little but its 32″ so i had to shoehorn it into my little corner lol.

  • Per Mare , Per Terram – Chooch

I was hardly out of nappies and starting primary school when i met this guy , even from that first day he had my back.

We went through primary and secondary schools together and had some laughs in between .

Those times were great , however we both went on to create our own futures .

I remember Chooch wanting to join the Royal Marines and the last time i saw him he was training hard to get to that goal.

i had never known this guy to quit at anything in his life so i was so happy and proud when some 20 odd years later he appears on my facebook feed.

He HAD reached his goal and i’m proud to say not only did he watch my back , he went on to protect that of the guys he served with , his country and everywhere he served.

    No Images Found!

Sadly , i learned of Chooch’s father, Brian , passing recently , i didn’t realise at the time that he also served in the forces . with chooch’s permission i have included a picture below showing them both in better times.

“Those who have never been to the edge and looked over will never understand that it is better to live one day as a lion than a lifetime as a sheep. The ones that been to the edge know that hard times don't last forever, but hard men do.”
  • New Mouse

I had to retire my Corsair Glaive after 3 years of heavy duty service .  However, seeing as most of my setup is centered around Corsair and Icue , this time i went for the Dark core RGB Pro.

I like this as its got slipstream wireless as well as bluetooth if needed and also can be charged using a standard USB-C .

oh, and yea , the RGB links with the keyboard , watercooler and case fans so that’s a win too !

click the picture to go to Corsair’s website if you are after one yourself.

  • CCTV

Having a good security alarm system is great, however these days it needs backing up with a good CCTV system.

Not only does it act as a visual deterrent, if installed and managed correctly , it can show evidence that can be used to catch and convict any wrongdoing.

My footage has even been used recently to help with a road traffic accident and also a case of dangerous/inconsiderate driving and parking.

As i am fully GDPR compliant , i do allow access to anyone who needs to request it and also make sure any unused footage is deleted when not required as well as making sure i have signage to be sure people are aware that the property is being recorded 24/7.

Obviously , i can’t go into great detail of how many and where my cameras are deployed but i can say they do capture the whole property and if there is a ‘blind spot’ , then i do have a motorised unit i can deploy.

I use and recommend Reolink , these are tied into my home server and everything is logged and recorded as well as auto managing deletions etc.  I really just let it do its thing.

Heres a link to the reolink website , they do some good deals every now and again so keep an eye out for them..

  • I’ve discovered Onesies :P

With being on blood thinners , i now get cold very easily,

    …….. That is , i did , until i discovered Onesies .

I’m not brave enough to go for the animal ones with big bushy ears and tails but i’m happy to wear this bad boy. It’s that warm that i now don’t need the heating on as high or as much so it will pay for itself in no time.

scarey dude in a fluffy 🙂
  • Being a Carer

    I am a carer , i have been a carer for a long time, over 25 years.

I cared for both my mum and dad until they passed , and now i need to be a carer for my wife .

Its not an easy thing to do but over time it does become the ‘norm’ and you adapt to this way of life without thinking about it. Usual duties involve everything from making sure meds are administered to everything in between 24/7, as well as managing my own needs and the day to day running of a busy household.

However , i wouldn’t change what i do for the world, in fact i wouldn’t really know what i would do with myself.

I do get paid a carers allowance as i need to care 24/7 . This makes working a full time ‘paid’ job impossible

… and that’s where the stigma and ignorance of some people annoys me.

i’ve had every comment thrown at me over the years such as ” go get a job , scrounger , etc. They simply don’t understand that i don’t claim benefits , my allowance for what it is , has to support me. it seems that as i am at home 24/7 , then i obviously don’t deserve or need to be.

I just hope those type of people never get sick enough to need a full time carer themselves, but if they did, then maybe they may ‘ understand’ a little
